I have over 7 years professional experience working as an Economist in The Gambia, for the Ministries of Finance and Economic Affairs; Trade, Industry & Employment and Economic Planning and Industrial Development. I obtained an MSc in International Development: Industry, Trade and Development from the University of Manchester; BA in Banking with Economics and Law from the London Metropolitan University and currently an IFC Milken’s Institute fellow on Capital Markets and Development Program for Emerging Economies.
As a Principal Economist working at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs in The Gambia, part of my role includes, PPP Policy development and dissemination, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the policy; Review PPP proposals (solicited and unsolicited) to ensure viability and value for money in line with the principles, objectives and priority areas outlined in the National PPP policy; Engage, support and advise other line Ministries, Departments and Agencies on how to identify, appraise, and evaluate viable PPP projects in the areas of Energy, Ports, Telecommunications, Transportation and Agricultural sectors.
In addition, I serve as a member of the Capital Markets development committee – Tasked to conduct a situational analysis and produce a full report on the feasibility of setting up a well-functioning capital market, advise the Minister on the role of capital markets as an engine of economic growth, identifying opportunities and challenges that might hinder the development of markets in The Gambia.
